Being Creative!

Hello all! As I am now officially on my Summer holidays and England, once again, hasn't provided me with great beach weather, I have been on the lookout for other ways to keep myself occupied! Being a textiles student and a budding fashionista, I have decided to put my skills to good use and I would like to show you the items I have produced so far!

Firstly I made this super cute, super simple make up bag! It is honestly so easy to make. Simply draw out 2 large trapezium shapes (front and back) onto your pieces of fabric. Then draw out 2 of the same large trapeziums on some iron on stabiliser (this gives the make up bag structure and is particularly useful if the fabric you are using is very thin!) Cut out the fabric shapes and the stabiliser shapes and iron the wrong side of the fabric to the stabiliser. Before I sewed the pieces together, I added a strip of yellow ribbon across the top but you could try adding an embroidered/appliqued motif or sequins etc. After adding your desired embellishments, place the right sides of the bag together and straight stitch around the edges, leaving the top open. Then turn your bag the right way out and add a fastening! I used a vintage gold button and a loop to add to the old-fashioned look of the fabrics but you could use poppers, hook and eye etc. This little make up bag only took me about an hour so it is the perfect mini project!

While I was ill last week, I decided to decorate this box and I honestly am extremely happy with how it turned out! After reading Company magazine (which is an extremely cool fashion magazine which I can recommend to anybody) I decided that I loved their photos and captions so much that I wanted to do something with them! Conveniently, I still had a plain brown cardboard box after receiving a birthday present in it last month. The cutting out of the pictures did take a significant amount of time but, since I wasn't feeling well and the weather was, well, British, I was quite happy to do it. The box features fashion icons such as Cara Delevingne and it also plays host to several upbeat and inspirational captions. I really do love the eye-catching look of this box and, although it took me about 3-4 hours to make, I would happily make another one!

I hope this post has inspired you to get creative and I would love to see some of the lovely things you end up producing! Have fun!

Mid-Week Match Up!

Hello all! I was going to go crazy with my blogging this week and post loads but unfortunately I have been really ill the past week! I'm on the mend now and have decided to give myself (and hopefully the weather) a lift with this super summery outfit modelled by Vanessa Hudgens.

This is such a stunning and relaxed outfit! It really makes me think of being on the beach! It is also the perfect outfit for any summer festival; the bold print on the dress makes such a statement and the contrasting browns of the accessories give the whole outfit a vintage feel. Here's how to achieve Vanessa's fancy festival look.

Dress; River Island £25, Bag; Dorothy Perkins £49, Hat; Topshop £25, Necklace; New Look £14.99, Sunglasses; H&M £5.99, Sandals; New Look £19.99
I love the shades and colours of this outfit! I wouldn't usually be bold enough to try mixing different shades of brown but I really love the way these neutral shades compliment each other. By using natural colours such as brown and black you are then able to bring in a bold colour to contrast and that's why this chunky necklace is perfect. The orange and gold necklace brings in a splash of summer colour and it stands out beautifully against this plain background.

Mid-Week Match Up!

Hi guys! I have finally finished my exams, I had my last one today and I have never been so happy! I am now planning to go out for a meal with my best friends to celebrate the start of our Summer and therefore this week I have chosen an outfit that I think would be perfect for this event and it is beautifully modelled by Kendall Jenner.

This outfit is so cute but still so eye-catching! The jade colour of Kendall's skirt is one of my favourite colours at the moment because it is such a cool and calming colour but it is also super summery and suits any skin colour. I love Kendall's choice of shoes here because flats are so practical but they still look beautifully classy with this outfit. Here is how to achieve Kendall's sophisticated look.

Top; New Look £16.99, Skirt; Asos.com £25, Shoes; Deichmann £12.99, Bracelets; New Look £4.99, Headband; Topshop £12
Unfortunately it was pretty impossible to find a jade coloured wrap skirt but I do love this blue because it is so unique and such an unusual shade, why not be experimental! I decided to team this outfit with some nude coloured accessories as nude is such a versatile colour and it goes with pretty much everything! This flower crown is such a must this summer! It would be perfect for any festival and it is so feminine, it is simply stunning!

Mid-Week Match Up!

Hello everyone! What's happened to the weather then?! I think I was being too optimistic with last weeks Mid-Week Match Up! I know a lot of people have proms coming up soon and also we are entering into wedding season so this week I have decided to choose an evening outfit and here is the one I picked, modelled by the stunning Lucy Meck!

This outfit is so classy and the pale colours really compliment Lucy's olive skin. This is such a beautifully simple dress but the glitter detail also makes it really eye catching! Lastly, the cut out side detail makes this dress unique and adds to its beauty. So, here is how to achieve Lucy's flawless look.

Dress; New Look £64.99, Shoes; New Look £29.99, Bag; Accessorize £20.00, Earrings; Accessorize £12.00, Impress Nails; Boots £8.99

What a simply stunning outfit! These different shades of creamy pink are so elegant and flatter every skin colour! Play it down with the jewellery by only sporting a pair of statement earrings. Curled hair would look beautiful with this outfit (see how I had my hair for my party below) and these earrings would definitely attract peoples attention to your hair! As well as being classy, this clutch bag is completely practical for those necessities! Finish off your look with these Impress nails! They are so handy as they just press on, don't require glue and last for up to a week! I love this subtle pattern and they add perfectly to the pale colours of the outfit. Enjoy prom everyone!

Mid-Week Match Up!

It's Wednesday which must mean it's Mid-Week Match Up day! I hope you are all enjoying the Sun and are jumping at the opportunity to show off your Summer style! If you still haven't stocked up on your Summer wardrobe, here is a stunning look from Demi Lovato.

Vibrant colours are definitely in this season. Why not make a statement?! What I love about Demi is that she knows exactly how to flatter her beautifully curvaceous body whilst still being incredibly fashionable! So here's how to grab Demi's Summer look!

Skirt; New Look £16.99, Top; Dorothy Perkins £10, Sunglasses; Topshop £16, Shoes; New Look £19.99, Jacket; River Island £65, Earrings; New Look £2.99, Necklace; New Look £5.99
This is most definitely one of my favourite outfits yet! This jacket is absolutely stunning! It is so chic and would go with most outfits. This ditsy floral skirt makes the whole outfit cute and girly but the chunky gold jewellery gives it an indie feel. This outfit would be so perfect for any festival as it is classy and casual but with a hint of Boho chic. Why not try teaming it with this gorgeous floral headband, £7 from Accessorize?!

Step into Summer!

Sun gets brighter; days get longer; hair gets lighter; tans get darker; clothes get shorter; life gets better. It must mean Summer's here! Due to the sudden increase in temperature and the fact that I have been wrapped up in jumpers for the past 6 months, I have recently had the perfect excuse to do a bit of summer clothes shopping. As you may have noticed from my weekly "Mid-Week Match up!" posts, my favourite place to shop is in fact New Look and they have some absolutely stunning summer stock available to buy at the moment!

So, out of all my new clothes, here is one of my favourite outfits.

Cropped top; New Look £12.99, Denim shorts; New Look £14.99, Wedge sandals; New Look £19.99, Sunglasses; New Look £2.99
I think this outfit is so cute! The pink floral pockets of the shorts give this outfit a Vintage edge but they also work perfectly with the black lace fringing on the cropped top to give a Western effect. The lace-up wedge gladiator sandals add to the stunning Vintage vibe of this outfit and, as well as being available in black or brown, they are also super comfortable! Luckily, the discreet pastel colours of this outfit mean that you are able to jazz it up; for example by adding chunky statement bangles or a vibrant nail polish such as yellow or orange. Remember, if you want to show off some new accessories or a beautiful nail polish, keep the colours of your outfit subtle; it helps them stand out!

Aside from sandals, this outfit would look incredible with a pair of tan Cowboy boots to add to the Western effect. At £45.00 from Topshop, these boots may require a bit of saving up but it would definitely be worth it to see them teamed with this outfit!

Have fun experimenting with Western style, y'all!
