Fabulously Floral

Hello fellow fashion lovers! I am so sorry that I haven't posted in a while; I've been busier than I thought I would be this summer! Anyway, to make it up to you, I have decided to do an extra special post today.
Now that I am on my summer holidays, it seems that everyday is a battle with my wardrobe. Do you ever get that feeling where you know you have a ridiculous amount of clothing but nothing seems to look right? Yes? Well I have been feeling that a lot lately!
A couple of weeks ago, my best friend Ellie and I decided to get together to experiment with some of the floral items of clothing in our wardrobes to find a couple of summer looks. Luckily this was a success and we now both have a few more outfits to add to our summer collections! Our aim was to show you how to achieve relaxed summer looks by using the items you own instead of having to go out and buy a whole new summer wardrobe and here are the results!

The dress Ellie is wearing here is simple yet beautiful and is perfectly beach ready! The change in the pattern of the dress and the high waistband defines her small frame and really shows off her figure. The white sandal wedges Ellie is wearing blend gently with the colour of the skirt of the dress and this means that they do not distract from the femininity of her dress. As the scoop neckline of this dress is quite low, I decided that this outfit would look best teamed with a chunky statement necklace. When wearing a simple outfit like this, try and wear large jewellery to add a bit of edge. This outfit would also look great if some gold bangles were added!

Here I am wearing a bodycon skirt from Primark and a cropped top from New Look. I got this skirt a couple of years ago but I still absolutely love it. Bodycon skirts are extremely figure hugging so they add a hint of sexiness to a summer outfit but they are also very good at flattering a figure! If you wear the skirt high up so that it is on your waist line, it can pull you in and make you look slimmer. By wearing the skirt on or just above your hips, it can make you look taller which, for me at 5'5", is a blessing! I also love how bold the flowers on this skirt are, it really is a statement piece on its own! I have also found that this top is beautifully versatile; it pretty much goes with anything from wash effect high-waisted denim shorts to dark blue skinny jeans! When a top has a lace or embellished neckline, it is a good idea to avoid necklaces and let the detail do the talking. Why not accessorize summer outfits with a single shamballa bracelet and a pair of large sunnies?!

This is definitely one of my favourite dresses! It is such a feel good item of clothing and every time I have worn it, I've received compliments on it! I originally bought this dress from Primark for £12 and I haven't seen one anywhere else with the same sort of pattern. I think what I like so much about this maxi dress is the bold and eyecatching flower pattern, it makes such a statement. This dress is strapless but is elasticated at the top so it fits any figure perfectly. I decided to team this dress with a sleeveless denim jacket and wedge gladiator sandals to give it a rock chic edge but it could easily be worn with a blazer and a pair of heels for a more dressy occasion.

If you're looking for an outfit for a picnic, this is the one! The shape of this dress is so simple and feminine and the floral pattern adds a vintage feel. Ellie has blue eyes so by wearing a blue dress, her eye colour really stands out meaning that make up can be kept to a minimum or in Ellie's case, nothing at all! Again, this dress has a very low plunging neckline and therefore you are able to get away with sporting a statement necklace. Wear a short dress with wedge shoes for an instant elongation and slimming look on your legs.

This was the first time I had ever tried teaming a peplum top with a pair of shorts but I kind of like it! I was never really a fan of peplum tops when they first came into fashion but they have grown on me and I loved the pattern on this one (£8 from New Look). The pattern is fairly plain but I love this as it is easier to team it with trousers/shorts and the blue flowers define my blue eyes. Peplum tops themselves often have a slimming effect as they pull you in at the waist and then flare out. Denim shorts are a must for the summer; I think I have about 5 pairs! You can literally wear them with anything and these ones are definitely one of my favourite pairs (£14.99 from New Look). You can see the pink floral pockets below the hem of the shorts and these add a sort of vintage-western look to an outfit. Why not buy a pair of denim shorts with a different feature such as long pockets or embroidery?

I hope you have all enjoyed this fancy floral post and that it has given you some inspiration to rummage through your wardrobe and see what fashion concoctions you can come up with!

Happy Birthday Ellie!

Mid-Week Match Up!

Hello you beautiful people! I hope life and fashion are treating you well! I'm really trying to embrace summer style at the moment; I'm mixing it up between bold floral prints and subtle pastel colours depending on my mood but overall, I'm just enjoying being able to wear shorts without tights! Lately, I've heard a lot of people talking about up-coming Summer weddings and, I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit jealous because, as well as LOVING weddings, I really need an excuse to dress up! This week, I have chosen someone who is good at doing just, and that person is Elle Fanning.

At just 15 years old, Elle has one of the most established styles out of any celebrity her age. She teams elegance with glamour and can pull off any outfit with her slim frame. What I like about Elle is, although she dresses in a very grown up way, she keeps make up to a minimum which highlights her fair complexion. Here is how to achieve Elle's wedding-perfect outfit.

Dress; New Look £12, Bag; River Island £30, Shoes; New Look £10, Necklace; Next £35, Earrings; River Island £10, Volumising Hair Spray; Boots £6.99
Such a stylish outfit! With the metallic background, this dress is so eye-catching and would glisten in the sun perfectly. Team this with statement silver jewellery and a studded bag and you are sure to turn heads! These sandals give you the height of heels but they are sure to be a lot comfier and their pale colour really gives the dress a chance to stand out. Finish off the outfit with simple and minimalistic make up and use this Charles Worthington Volume and Bounce Texturising Spray on your hair to achieve those bouncy curls.

Mid-Week Match Up!

Hello you beautiful lot! I hope you are all well and embracing the sunshine! I am definitely in a very summery mood so this week I have chosen an exceptionally beach ready outfit and it is being modelled by the lovely Vanessa Hudgens!

I really adore this outfit! The neutral colours are really beautiful and by sticking to a plain palette, Vanessa can afford to make a statement with her accessories. I have really noticed lately that flower crowns have made their way back into fashion. In my opinion, they are absolutely lovely; eye-catching but super feminine at the same time. Here is how to achieve Vanessa's summer look.

Top; New Look £22.99, Skirt; Dorothy Perkins £17, Headband; boohoo.com £6, Bangles; Topshop £16.50, Bracelet; Topshop £14, Shoes; River Island £35, No7 Moisture Drench Lipstick; Boots £9.50
What a dainty and stunning outfit! The cream top contrasts with the pure white skirt to give a vintage feel to this outfit. The subtlety of the clothing allows you to go all out with chunky statement jewellery but I would stick to just bracelets and maybe rings, not necklaces to ensure you do not distract too much from the simplicity of the rest of the outfit. These caged sandals are extremely stylish and, although I do not yet own a pair, I have heard they are also extremely comfortable! Why not add to the outfit with a fairly dark lipstick to really give definition to your features?!

Mid-Week Match Up!

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well and enjoying your week! Lately I've really been thinking about my future plans and I have realised just how much I want to go into the Fashion Industry; it really is a dream. Anyway, let's get on with this Wednesday's post and here is my chosen outfit, worn by Taylor Swift!

Taylor Swift is definitely one of my fashion icons. She has the ability to look incredible in whatever she wears and she has such a sophisticated style. This outfit is no exception! The spots make it so quirky and the straight style, ankle grazer trousers are so in right now. Here's how to grab Taylors look!

Jumper; Next £28, Trousers; H&M £14.99, Shoes; Dorothy Perkins £23, Bag; Topshop £34, Necklace; New Look £5.99, Sunglasses; New Look £2.99, Lipstick; NO7 at Boots £10.95
This is definitely one of my favourite mid-week outfits! This outfit is so cute and it looks both smart with the pearl necklace and court shoes and casual with the satchel and sunglasses. The dark and subtle colours of the outfit are really highlighted by this beautiful bright red lipstick. Red lipstick is always a great way to glam up an outfit as it really suits any skin tone and goes with any hair colour. At just £14.99 these trousers are a must as their beautiful maroon colour can be teamed with most colours from nudes and pale pinks to blacks and greys.
