Winter Wearing

Hello you beautiful lot! I'm back and it feels like AGES since I last blogged! School is such an inconvenience...
I am loving this autumn-wintery weather; it is the perfect excuse to adorn myself with scarves and drink excessive cups of tea and Starbucks. I thought today, I would share with you a few of my most recent Autumn/Winter '13 inspired outfits and I'd love to know what you think of them.
WARNING: This post is extremely "selfie-central"-like; I apologise in advance.

Seasonal Sass

Dungaree Dress; Primark £12, Top; New Look £10, Tights; Primark £3, Socks; Topshop £3.50, Shoes; Deichmann £15

This is definitely one of my favourite outfits. I wore this outfit a lot in the summer without the tights but when you team it with knitwear eg. woolly tights and a chunky cable knit jumper, you get a delightfully Vintage look. The flowers on the top give this otherwise tomboyish outfit a feminine edge. Dungaree dresses look great on anyone as they have a simple smock dress shape which is flattering on any figure.

Autumn Leaves
Top; Topshop £18, Jeans; New Look, Lipstick; Avon £3

I was feeling so inspired by autumn leaves the other day that I decided to steal their colours! I combined green, brown and red for a warm and rustic look; the red lips adding a hint of glamour to the outfit. I don't own much green but I adore this emerald shade as it compliments my greeny-blue eye colour perfectly! I wore this outfit with fur-rimmed boots and a denim jacket but it would look fab with Chelsea boots and a leather jacket.

Tartan Girl
Top; USC £6, Necklace; Primark £2, Shorts; New Look £20, Socks; Topshop £3.50

I may be slightly in love with these shorts. And by slightly, I mean very. Tartan is absolutely essential this season, whether it be a plaid scarf or a lumberjack shirt. Obviously I would get quite chilly in this outfit alone so try teaming the top and shorts with patterned tights and a waterfall, knitted cardigan.

Co-ordinating with the weather
Jumper; Primark £12, Jeans; New Look £10, Necklace; New Look £5

So, being a British chick, I don't see the sun often in Autumn and today was no exception. I decided to colour co-ordinate with the dark sky on this occasion and I went for the monochrome approach! I often get compliments on this jumper and people are usually surprised that it is from Primark as it looks a lot more expensive. Black jeans are such a great item as they look fab with anything and are essential for the winter months.

Winter Wonderland
Dress; USC £25, Tights; Primark £3

Okay, so, the tights with this dress aren't such a great look but I was only trying it on at the time! I adore this dress as I am a strong believer that a girl can't have too much sparkle in her wardrobe! This is the perfect party dress and I have chosen to wear it as my Christmas day outfit! Team this dress with a suave pair of heels and a chunky gold bracelet for instant sophistication.

stylefruits.co.uk FUN!

Hello beauts! Hope you're all feeling fab despite the cold! I'm on half term right now although I have been crazily busy with coursework and my job etc but I missed blogging so here I am, back again to give you some fashion enlightenment!
As you may or may not remember, a while ago I posted about this incredible website called stylefruits.co.uk. Basically, on Stylefruits you make an account and then create outfits from a choice of hundreds of items from high street stores! You can then monitor the views and ratings on your outfits and even enter mini competitions. Making an account is super easy and if you are passionate about fashion, this website would be perfect for you!
Today, I thought I would share a few of my favourite outfits that I have created and I'll tell you exactly why I love each one.

This is one of the first outfits that I made and it's probably one of my favourites! Pastel pink is one of my favourite colours as it looks great with any hair or skin colour. The colours in this outfit are fairly soft and neutral so by teaming the items with a dramatic spot print top, you are able to create a subtle statement. Use dark eye shadow to create smoky eyes in order to add a rocky edge to a girly outfit.

This is a really simple but effective sports outfit but I love it as that little rosette means that I won Sports Outfit of the Month for it in April! *claps because proud moment* Yellow is not a colour that I would normally wear but these high waisted shorts are divine! Settle with white accessories or be experimental and clash it with a rich teal. Try daisy accessories as they can add a quirkiness to any outfit.

You probably all know by now how much I adore monochrome and my craving for simplicity probably inspired these two outfits. Both of these outfits are suave and sophisticated and can be worn with dainty or statement jewellery. What I love about black and white outfits is that you have the opportunity to incorporate any colour should you feel like it! Both of these outfits are super elegant and ooze class.

As autumn is well under way, it only felt right to create my ideal autumnal outfit! Black jeans are an essential to every wardrobe as they literally go with anything...they're so versatile! I desperately want a Parka coat because the furry hood is snuggly and eskimo-like (technical terms!) and the khaki colour is surprisingly easy to team with nearly every trouser type! Team a cable knit jumper with a woolly scarf to really embrace the joys of knitwear! (and to keep you warm of course.)

Lastly, I've recently created two outfits styled upon the beautiful model sisters, Gigi and Bella Hadid. I really admire the sisters' New York inspired style and I love the way that they are not afraid to experiment with colours and textures. Bella's style focuses on darker, more gothic tones with a splash of vibrant colour whereas Gigi prefers to mix pure whites with statement hues such as red. Why not give leather a try this season whether it be with a pair of wet-look leggings or a biker jacket and mix it up like the Hadid sisters.

Autumnal Feeling

Hello lovely ones! So, the mornings and evenings are getting darker, the days are getting shorter and, I don't think I'm alone when I say I'm really starting to notice the chill in the air. Although the sunny days, short shorts, late evenings, beach trips and topless guys (oops) now seem a distant memory, I truly am looking forward to these Autumn months. I've always seen Autumn as the "confused season"; the weather and nature changes causing it to be a mixture of both summer and winter. This is probably exactly why I like it.
So to cheer you up in case your spirits have been dampened by darkness and drizzle, I've compiled a list of my top 5 favourite things about Autumn; just some things to look forward to. Enjoy!

Autumn walks

You've got to love a good Autumn stroll! It's so good to wrap up all warm and then arrive back to a toasty house and a cup of tea at the end of your adventure. Autumn is such a beautiful month which also makes it perfect for photography. Why not take your camera with you and capture pictures of firey fallen leaves and soft sunsets to look back on in the coming months.

Scarves

In the summer, scarves are seen as fashion accessories. In autumn, scarves are seen as fashion accessories AND a necessity. When picking a good scarf, make sure that it's thick and quite tightly knit; you don't want to be catching a cold! Also, consider the coat you will most likely be wearing it with; don't buy a pink scarf because it's pretty and then leave the shop and remember that your coat is red. I love monochrome scarves or a nice, plain cream or black scarf as these are so easy to match with your outfit. Also consider co-ordinating your scarf with a beanie and a pair of mittens; nothing better than a matching set!

Coffee with friends

For those of you that don't know, I may have a slight obsession with Starbucks. They genuinely make the best coffee I have ever tasted in my life and if you have never tasted a Caramel Macchiato, trust me, you are missing out big time. Not only is the food and drink exceptional here but they also offer comfy chairs and heating...what more could you want this season?! I love taking time out to drink coffee and socialise with my friends after a hard days shopping and Starbucks is the best place to escape the cold and do just that. Plus, as we head towards the Christmas season, Starbucks will be reintroducing their seasonal specials such as Vanilla Spice Latte which, again, I strongly recommend you to try.

Jumpers

Believe it or not, it's time to get that box of jumpers down that you've been storing in the attic since March and, whilst you're thinking about it, why not pick up a few new ones to add to your collection. I love oversized jumpers this season as you can cuddle into them and they look great with anything from jeans to leggings. Also try fluffy jumpers as these look dainty and feminine whilst also being super comfortable.

1

Sleepovers with the best ones

I am so lucky to have a group of eight best friends and be so close with each one of them. What I love about Autumn is that now we will be able to shamelessly wear our onesies and snuggle under mountains of blankets to watch chick flicks and drink hot chocolate with marshmallows! Bliss! It's cosy moments like these that make me happy to see the back of summer.

ZARA Wish List

Hello lovely ones! I'm so sorry I have been such a slacker recently; it started with school preparations and settling in to my new year followed but now I am back and I hope to find as much free time as possible to blog for you lot!
Since I've been away I have become truly obsessed with clothing from ZARA! ZARA is such a stunning clothes shop; they combine modern fashion with unique elegance to create some beautiful items. Despite being absolutely smitten with the flawlessness of their clothing, I am not so in love with the price tags that are attached. ZARA charge the same sort of prices as Topshop so often clothing purchases are, in fact, investments!
Nevertheless, I have compiled a wish list of my top 3 favourite items from various categories at my new shopping paradise and I would love to know what you guys think of my choices!

Coats

Left to Right: £129.00, £89.99, £109

There is nothing I love more than the autumnal allure of a Khaki Parka or a Leather effect Duffel and these are three of the best! The first coat adopts a childhood duffel style and combines it with a suave and simple pattern to add a sense of sophistication. Combine this with a pair of leather sleeves for instant edge and you get the perfect Autumn coat. Khaki is one of those magical colours that can easily suit any skin tone and hair colour and this is what makes it so fab and adaptable. I am a sucker for a fur trim and the final two coats offer this in the most delicate and fashionable way. Team a casual Parka with a pair of skinny jeans and ankle boots and you are on to a winner.

Trousers

Left to Right: £39.99, £39.99, £29.99

Ever wondered how a zip could be a fashion accessory? Well here's the answer! This first pair of skinny fit trousers are so simple but they are given a discreet punk edge by the zip details and, luckily, the punk revolution is very much in this season. The second pair of trousers don't need much description but everyone needs their favourite pair of skinny jeans, right? Lastly, jacquard trousers. When this style of trouser first came into fashion early this year, I absolutely hated them but since trying on several different pairs, I've fallen slightly in love with them. They are so different and if you get them in black, the pattern is subtle but still noticeable. I love how these trousers are unique with their flattering turned up hem.

Tops

Left to Right: £22.99, £19.99, £29.99

I've always had this strange obsession with tops. I will always go into a store searching for trousers etc and come out with more tops than necessary. I love these three items as they are all so unique. Lately, I adore the shift style and this first blouse is so understated but its tomboyish shape and bold trim makes it a gorgeous item. The second top is probably my favourite out of the three. The print is unusual and elegant and the grey collar is a dramatic contrast to the otherwise autumnal toffee coloured tones. The last top oozes sophistication. This top could be teamed with anything from leggings and cowboy boots for a smart/casual look to a simple midi skirt for instant class.

Skirts/Skorts

Left to Right: £29.99, £29.99, £25.99

I appear to have a new obsession in the form of skorts! I absolutely love these as they are so convenient for windy autumn months as, although they look like skirts, they are in fact shorts and therefore you have no risk of one of those "Marilyn Monroe" moments. The first item is in fact a skirt and I adore this glamorous pastel colour as it adds a hint of freshness to the dull autumn months. The last 2 items are in fact shorts. These asymmetric styles are simply incredible and they are so eye-catching. I own the skort in the middle in black (see below) and it is honestly so comfortable and classy that I am tempted to buy this one too! Definitely my new favourite item.

Shoes

Left to Right: £79.00, £89.99, £89.99

Boots are a girls number 1 must-have for winter! Whether its Chelsea boots, Leather boots, Heeled boots, a good pair are a necessity! The first pair of boots are beautiful everyday boots in a convenient black and they even have a built in wedge to boost your height! Wear these with anything from slouchy jeans to smart leggings. The second and third pair of boots are absolutely stunning! The designs are flawless and when wearing these, your feet are sure to be a talking point! Team these boots with bold colours and defined shapes to add some modern creativity to your autumn step.

Monday Match Up!

Hello lovelies! Well this is different...match up on a Monday! I hope you're all well and you're embracing your inner fashionista! If you remember way back to one of my first posts, I analysed and tried out an outfit inspired by Ariana Grande. I am honestly so in love with Ariana's fashion sense, it's so quirky and unique and she makes any item of clothing look cute so today I wanted to display a few of her outfits and show you how you can dress similarly to her! I hope you enjoy this post and fall in love with Ari's fashion sense as much as I have!

1 - Simply glam
This is such a stunning glamorous outfit. White is such a pure colour to suit any hair or skin colour but this dress goes especially well with Ariana's olive skin colour. By teaming this dress with a pair of nude heels, the attention is not distracted from the dress and it can simply stun by itself.

Dress; Miss Selfridge £25, Shoes; Dorothy Perkins £29

2 - Floaty Floral
This dress is stunning and summery with the cut out sides adding a touch of sexiness. This is the perfect holiday or beach dress!

 Dress; New Look £22.99

3 - Flirty Flowers
This is such an adorable matching bandeau and skirt combination. I love the way that the patterns match but they are broken by the show of a midriff. This is such a happy and summery outfit perfect for a party or garden do!

Top; New Look £5, Skirt; New Look £7

4 - Classy Peplum
This top oozes class with its sophisticated pattern and crisp white colour. Team this top with black disco pants and black heels for a night time look.

Top; Lipsy £38

5 - Mellow Maxi
The maxi dress is the perfect way to elongate your frame especially if you are of petite build. Wear a maxi dress in a pastel or sorbet colour to look perfect at any summer wedding or party.

Dress; New Look £15, Headband; New Look £3.99

6 - Wonderful Watermelon
This is probably my favourite outfit out of them all! This outfit is so cute and quirky, it really is adorable! This outfit would definitely be memorable and eye-catching and it is perfect for any occasion from a picnic in the park to shopping with the girls.

Top; nastygal.com £31.39 (unfortunately, it appears that this website no longer sell the matching shorts but if anyone manages to find them, be sure to let me know!)

Pretty in Pink

Hello beautiful fashion lovers! Sorry for my shockingly irregular blogging recently but I will hopefully be back up and running with Mid-Week Match Up this Wednesday!
Just the other day, I was reading the September issue of Vogue and I was absolutely delighted to see several glossy pages of Cara Delevingne rocking different shades of pink. As I read, I came to realise that pink is definitely the colour to wear this season and, as a lover of pink myself, I'm not going to argue!
Pink really is a perfect colour, often linked to femininity and, when worn correctly, it can ooze class and sophistication. Subtle baby pinks worn in the autumn can reflect the beauty of the summer just gone by whereas deeper or brighter shades such as fuschia welcome and add colour to the duller months
I think it is fair to say that I will be shamelessly donning several shades of pink this season and here are a few high street gems that I have found to help you on your way too.

1) Dungaree dress; Topshop £18, 2) Cami top; Miss Selfridge £16, 3) Jumper; Miss Selfridge £32,
4) Jacquard jeans; River Island £35, 5) Lace Skirt; Topshop £25, 6) Waterfall Blazer; New Look £24.99,
7) Shoes; Topshop £35, 8) Bowler Bag; Dorothy Perkins £35, 9) Ankle Socks; Topshop £3.50

1) Striped Dungaree Dress
I am so in love with this adorable piece of clothing! Dungarees are so versatile because there are so many things you can team them with, they look great with a plain cropped tee or a basic white Ralph Lauren top! This dress is unique as the candy shop pink and white stripes are such a memorable print. I would wear this item with knee high grey socks and a pair of brown suede loafers.

2) Cami Swing Top
Everyone needs a simple cami swing top in their wardrobe and it just so happens that this one from Miss Selfridge is a delicious baby pink colour. Rock a plain swing top with a pair of faded wash skinny jeans and ankle boots for a relaxed, Western look.

3) Waffle Knit Jumper
The perfect winter woolly! This jumper is effortlessly chic and the neutral colour means that it would look great teamed with almost everything. I would wear this jumper with a pair of dark blue jeans and ballet pumps or similarly with plain black leggings.

4) Jacquard Jeans
Jacquard trousers are definitely my new guilty pleasure. They have such an unusual pattern that you wouldn't expect to see on a pair of trousers and these are especially individual with their bright raspberry pink colour. Wear these jeans with a swing top like the one above!

5) Lace Skirt
The classic skater skirt. Can't be faulted. This is such a dainty and feminine item that could add a touch of glamour to any event. Play this skirt down with a white vest top and ballerina pumps or dress it up with an embellished crop top and statement heels.

6) Waterfall Blazer
The pinnacle of sophistication; the blazer. I personally have a bit of an addiction with buying blazers, they have the ability to make any outfit look smart and classy. Waterfall blazers also have a more casual effect with their lighter material and smooth outline. This one would look incredible with a plain top, blue or black skinny jeans and a pair of smart stiletto sandals.

7) T-bar Shoes
These are quite possibly my favourite item on this page; they're adorable! These are so worth the £35 they cost as they would go with pretty much anything; jeans, shorts, dungarees, you name it! These shoes are super casual and the laser cut heart shapes add a hint of girliness and quirkiness to them, perfect for any vintage chick.

8) Bowler Bag
A blush coloured bowler bag should be on every girls with list; a boyish shaped bag in a feminine colour - perfect! Not only are these bags incredibly practical (small on the outside, big on the inside as a good handbag should be) but they are incredibly stylish and look beautiful with anything from pencil skirts and blouses to ankle grazing trousers and printed tees.

9) Lace Trim Ankle Socks
The cutest vintage accessory you could own! Wear these socks with dungarees and jelly shoes or leggings and loafers for an instant girly and graceful transformation.

Fabulously Floral

Hello fellow fashion lovers! I am so sorry that I haven't posted in a while; I've been busier than I thought I would be this summer! Anyway, to make it up to you, I have decided to do an extra special post today.
Now that I am on my summer holidays, it seems that everyday is a battle with my wardrobe. Do you ever get that feeling where you know you have a ridiculous amount of clothing but nothing seems to look right? Yes? Well I have been feeling that a lot lately!
A couple of weeks ago, my best friend Ellie and I decided to get together to experiment with some of the floral items of clothing in our wardrobes to find a couple of summer looks. Luckily this was a success and we now both have a few more outfits to add to our summer collections! Our aim was to show you how to achieve relaxed summer looks by using the items you own instead of having to go out and buy a whole new summer wardrobe and here are the results!

The dress Ellie is wearing here is simple yet beautiful and is perfectly beach ready! The change in the pattern of the dress and the high waistband defines her small frame and really shows off her figure. The white sandal wedges Ellie is wearing blend gently with the colour of the skirt of the dress and this means that they do not distract from the femininity of her dress. As the scoop neckline of this dress is quite low, I decided that this outfit would look best teamed with a chunky statement necklace. When wearing a simple outfit like this, try and wear large jewellery to add a bit of edge. This outfit would also look great if some gold bangles were added!

Here I am wearing a bodycon skirt from Primark and a cropped top from New Look. I got this skirt a couple of years ago but I still absolutely love it. Bodycon skirts are extremely figure hugging so they add a hint of sexiness to a summer outfit but they are also very good at flattering a figure! If you wear the skirt high up so that it is on your waist line, it can pull you in and make you look slimmer. By wearing the skirt on or just above your hips, it can make you look taller which, for me at 5'5", is a blessing! I also love how bold the flowers on this skirt are, it really is a statement piece on its own! I have also found that this top is beautifully versatile; it pretty much goes with anything from wash effect high-waisted denim shorts to dark blue skinny jeans! When a top has a lace or embellished neckline, it is a good idea to avoid necklaces and let the detail do the talking. Why not accessorize summer outfits with a single shamballa bracelet and a pair of large sunnies?!

This is definitely one of my favourite dresses! It is such a feel good item of clothing and every time I have worn it, I've received compliments on it! I originally bought this dress from Primark for £12 and I haven't seen one anywhere else with the same sort of pattern. I think what I like so much about this maxi dress is the bold and eyecatching flower pattern, it makes such a statement. This dress is strapless but is elasticated at the top so it fits any figure perfectly. I decided to team this dress with a sleeveless denim jacket and wedge gladiator sandals to give it a rock chic edge but it could easily be worn with a blazer and a pair of heels for a more dressy occasion.

If you're looking for an outfit for a picnic, this is the one! The shape of this dress is so simple and feminine and the floral pattern adds a vintage feel. Ellie has blue eyes so by wearing a blue dress, her eye colour really stands out meaning that make up can be kept to a minimum or in Ellie's case, nothing at all! Again, this dress has a very low plunging neckline and therefore you are able to get away with sporting a statement necklace. Wear a short dress with wedge shoes for an instant elongation and slimming look on your legs.

This was the first time I had ever tried teaming a peplum top with a pair of shorts but I kind of like it! I was never really a fan of peplum tops when they first came into fashion but they have grown on me and I loved the pattern on this one (£8 from New Look). The pattern is fairly plain but I love this as it is easier to team it with trousers/shorts and the blue flowers define my blue eyes. Peplum tops themselves often have a slimming effect as they pull you in at the waist and then flare out. Denim shorts are a must for the summer; I think I have about 5 pairs! You can literally wear them with anything and these ones are definitely one of my favourite pairs (£14.99 from New Look). You can see the pink floral pockets below the hem of the shorts and these add a sort of vintage-western look to an outfit. Why not buy a pair of denim shorts with a different feature such as long pockets or embroidery?

I hope you have all enjoyed this fancy floral post and that it has given you some inspiration to rummage through your wardrobe and see what fashion concoctions you can come up with!

Happy Birthday Ellie!
